Rude Awakening

OK, I guess a lot of us have had that terrifying phone call in the middle of the night informing us of a loved one being taken to the hospital or the news of a relative or family member passing in the middle of the night. I've gotten them and they are without a doubt the worst way to wake up but.. have any of you been woken up in other ways that make you want to have a heart attack?

I had, one morning, been awakened by a bee stinging me in the face. Nasty way to wake up, freaked me out! Another time by a tree landing on my house from a wind storm. Fortunatly I've never lived in the midwest and haven't been through a tornado but I'll bet that must be the worst kind of wake up. My twin brother was living In San Fran when the earthqauke hit a decade ago. He told me he almost shit his pants! I can't imagine.

Well... Yesterday I woke up on my day off at 4:30 am. I knew I had to work my other job in the afternoon so I figured it best to try to get back to sleep. After an hour I went to catch a few zzzz's on the couch that sits next to the living room stairwell that goes up to the second floor.
At about 8:30 I was rudely awakened by my 2 yr old. It seems he was sliding down the railing of the stairs and fell off just above me at the height of about 5 feet, right smack dab on my stomach! OWWWWWW!
Shit! That hurt! For a few seconds I didn't know what the hell was going on. Now I've been woken up by loud sounds, TV's, kids screaming, slamming doors and such,,, bit I can't remember a more shocking physical wake up call than that! I laugh about it now but I was about ready to kill someone.

I'd love to hear about other crappy ways that others have had peacefull dreams shattered.

Anyone care to comment about this? I need a good laugh right about now.

When I was 18ish, home from school and staying with my lil sis in her room I had the worst wake up. She had a night terror about spiders her biggest fear. She was out of bed running around the room screaming. I jumped out of bed to find out what was up - She starts screaming, "Spiders everywhere! They're on me and the floor and the beds!" I had not put the lights on and did not know she was still asleep doing this - so I started screaming too. Then my parents stormed in the room, turned the lights on. No spiders - at all! The end.

BTW - I like what you've done with the place!!

CN; EWWW! That musta sucked big time. I once went to my dads house to help him clean out his freezer. (He always bought a lot and kept it till he didn't know what to do with it) He gave me a box full of meat and it was cold out so I set it on the porch while we watched football. I was driving home later that night and noticed cat piss scent in the car. The dam cats sprayed all over the boxes. I had to throw every last bit away. My dad was furious. I'm not sure but we might have had one or two cats fewer the next day.
"sweet" dreams.

Snavy; That must have been frightning. I can just imagine the sight of two little girls sitting there in the dark screaming and freaking out. I bet it was just as scary for your parents not knowing what was going on. They probably went back to their room and had quite a chuckle that night.
Dammit! now I can't get "Itsy bitsy spider" out of my head!
